Measurable goals for 2008.
1. Get more than 3 hours of sleep a night. For whatever reason, my body decided I didn’t need sleep last night. Too much on my mind? Too much sleep earlier in the weekend? Whatever it was, I was not amused.
2. Be rid of the nasty cold by the end of this week.
3. Exercise minimum of five times a week, allowing for illness (ahem!). I know this much exercise impacts my blood sugar in a spectacular way, but it is always a struggle after illness (whether nasty metformin side effects or a nasty cold). As for this week, I hope to begin working out again tomorrow, all dependent on progress with goals #1 and #2.
4. Establish a weekly Friday afternoon cleaning session. If I find another job outside the home and happen to work on Fridays, I reserve the right to change the day of the week.
5. Read 40 books this year. 2006 found me at 26, 2007 found me at 34. I’ve already begun book #1 thanks to last night’s insomnia (see goal #1).

More than three hours every night or on average?
Books I read recently and recommend:
Bittersweet: Diabetes, Insulin and the Transformation of Illness. Just a fun read and it’s about diabetes.
I’m Still Here In the Bathtub and other silly dilly songs. Because it’s fun to be silly dilly sometimes.
Blind Rage: Letters to Helen Keller. This book might be funner if you are involved in the disability world.
The Earth Moved by Amy Stewart. A book about worms.
Rachel-
I hope you feel better soon…
And hey, what book did you start reading?
Jonah> More than three hours every night. Yes, I typically get 7-8 hours, but the other night was not typical. Thanks for the suggestions!
Sandra> Feeling much better today, almost 100%. I began reading My Cousin Rachel (ha!)
So glad you’re better, Rachel.
Let us know how you like the book– I’m always on the hunt for a good read…
