Ultimate workout playlist.

Here’s the thing.

I am a flipper.

If the iPod is set on random while I am exercising and a song not fitting my mood at that very moment comes on, I will flip and flip and flip until I find one that does. Even with 3,000 songs on the darn device, I need specific types of songs during specific parts of my workout.

I know what you are thinking, why not set up playlists?

One of these days I need to stop being lazy and do that, especially with this set of songs key to any awesome workout lasting approximately 35 minutes:

  • Killing Me Softly With His Song – The Fugees
  • Lightning Crashes – Live
  • The Distance – Cake
  • Hymn – Edguy
  • It’s My Life – Bon Jovi
  • New York Groove – KISS
  • Little Red Corvette – Prince
  • Sleeping Sun – Nightwish

If it is a longer workout towards 50 minutes, I might add in:

  • Go Your Own Way – Fleetwood Mac (before “Hymn”)
  • Punk Rock Girl – Dead Milkmen (before “New York Groove”)
  • Waiting for the End – Linkin Park (before “Sleeping Sun”)

So, what’s on your workout playlist?

  1. Oh Rachel, I am stuck in the ’70′s – I did’t recognize any of the artists, except Fleetwood Mac.
I could probably list 100 workout tunes, so I ramdomly picked one:

Way too funny when it said “their first hit” – that was their only hit.

  2. I always work out to very naughty music. Music that never fits into my life in any other place. Except when I was running for a time I would listen to Michael Franti or Damien Rice, Damien is a very odd choice to run to. For me it just worked, perfectly.

Oh and I always end my workout playlist with my favorite coldplay song that is just Chris playing the piano, no singing.

  3. Dude. I’m totally a flipper, too. I’m such a flipper I still flip even when I’ve made a playlist that’s supposed to be awesome for working out.

I know you and I don’t exactly have the same taste in music and I don’t know whether you’d like it at all, but Girl Talk is the best best best workout music for flippers, ever. All Day is awesome, and you can get it free (illegal-art.net/allday/). Highly recommend.

  4. I am a flipper too when it comes to music. I like a pretty wide variety of stuff, but have to be in the mood for it when I am exercising. I am still in the dark ages & don’t have an iPod, but use my old Sony DiscPlayer. I just made a new exercise CD the other day – I haven’t made a new one for awhile & I was getting bored with the ones I have. This is what I put on the new one:

    Yeha Noha – Tatanka
    Surround – In-Flight Safety
    Stand By Me – Seal
    September – Daughtry
You’ve Lost That Loving Feelin – The Righteous Brothers
Heart In Your Heartbreak – The Pains of Being Pure At Heart
Always On My Mind – Elvis Presley
My Heart, Your Hands – Dommin
If I Could Turn Back Time – Cher
Lookin Out My Back Door – Creedence Clearwater Revival
    Without Expression – John Mellencamp
Just Can’t Get Enough – Depeche Mode
In These Arms – Bon Jovi
Series of Dreams – Bob Dylan
Bow Down Mister – Boy George
Cheaper Than Free – Stevie Mocls
    Born Again – Cory Chisel
