To help get me out of this disasterous seasonal funk, it was suggested by that spectacular mental health professional (SMHP) ever that I make a list of things I keep putting off because of feeling that funk (or because I procrastinate or because I don’t want to do them alone).
I picked three and am already developing action plans on them.
- Snowshoeing. The funny thing is SMHP used this exact example without knowing I’ve been wanting to learn to snowshoe ever since I got back into shape following my type 2 diabetes diagnosis. Tentative plans call for me to go to Eldora Mountain on one of my “off days” next week, weather permitting.
- Younger adults with type 1 and type 2 diabetes support group. Tomorrow morning, after I work out and grab some much-needed groceries, I will start calling a list (another list!) of places that provide public meeting space at little or no charge. I hope to be able to have the second meeting in February, once and for all.
- Submit a topic (already under construction in my head) for the next Ignite Boulder. Even though I despise public speaking, I know I would have some support in the audience should my topic be picked.
The thing is, SMHP indicated she wanted to see my list the next time I see her. I may well have accomplished all three things on the list by then, so I suppose I will need to wrack my brain for more.
I am so proud of you, Rachel!! You inspire me all the time. I know your support group will rock because you are a smart and strong woman.
Aww, Cherise. I don’t know about that, but we’ll see.
You’re awesome! (And great minds think alike, or something, because I’ve been working on my list today, too.)
If you speak at Ignite Boulder, it’ll give me a good excuse to get off my butt and get up there so I can cheer my nonexistent butt off for you!
Yes and if you had comments turned on, I’d be able to respond to yours!
