The fifth truth.

(This comes from the 30 Days of Truth meme, which Julia and Cinnamon have also pledged to do.  I will not post a truth every single day, but like Cinnamon, I’d like to finish by the end of the year.  We’ll see.)

Day #5 – Something you hope to do in your life.

Oh, there are plenty of hopes and dreams alive in my mind and in my heart.  Taking part in a Heifer Women’s Livestock Birthing session at the farm in Massachusetts.  Going back to school for a master’s degree, likely in community health education.   Writing a novel (or perhaps book-length creative non-fiction) that is good enough to be published.

There is one hope that has lived with me for a couple decades now that cannot be shaken.

Visiting the British Isles, seeing just where Chaucer and Marvell and Dickens and Austen and Carroll and Woolf and Du Maurier and Murdoch and Ishiguro found inspiration. I know I am forgetting many others, but you get the idea.  To really immerse myself, it will require multiple visits, with different focus each time.  Start with London and surrounding countryside.  Then Ireland.  Then Scotland and the northern countryside of England.

Or something like that, anyways.

I want to say something constructive but just seeing the name “Chaucer” strikes so much terror into my heart I cannot.
