Perfect Moment Monday: Mountain Views

I have no idea what will actually transpire come Thursday’s surgery.

If all goes well, it will be a simple appendectomy and a simple cystectomy for the dermoid on my left ovary.   There are risks.  The gynecologist may not be able to save the ovary…and there may not be enough ovarian tissue left on the right side to avoid going into menopause at 34.   Having type 2 diabetes may prolong the healing process or lead to an infection.

And it’s the second open surgical procedure I will have had in less than five months.

As I left the hospital after pre-surgical testing, I looked to the west and realized something.   No matter what happens in that operating room, I will be treated to a fantastic mountain view during my immediate recovery period.  And that is what I will focus on for now.

No “what ifs” allowed.  Only the mountains that assisted my husband in luring me to Colorado twelve years ago.  Only the mountains that were the backdrop for our lovely wedding at the base of the north Boulder foothills on April 27, 2002.

Lovely photo. And I’m so glad you’ve got a room that will facilitate your taking the long view of things.

I’ll be thinking of you Thursday and wishing you the best possible outcome. Looking forward to hearing from you again when you write post-op.

I like that. Lean on the strength of the mountains while you rest & recover. We’re all pulling for you and a quick recovery.

  4. I think it’s so important to focus on the good things – it is what gets us through the bad. And you are doing a wonderful job. Happy Anniversary! I’ll be thinking of you on Thursday.
