Neditate.
No, I didn’t throw out a spelling error in my post’s title. It is quite easy to “neditate” in the town of Nederland, Colorado located 20-25 minutes west of Boulder. So easy, in fact, that they have bumper stickers advertising the town using their invented word “neditate”.
We went up to Nederland for a surprisingly good barbecue lunch at the Wild Mountain Smokehouse and Brewery this past weekend. I enjoyed a NED-E-QUE bowl with beef brisket, baked beans, and sweet potato fries – all covered in Wild Mountain’s Carolina Mustard barbecue sauce. Greg was impressed with a pork sandwich with their XXX barbecue sauce with a side of baked beans. (Yes, the XXX barbecue sauce stood his taste test, giving off appreciable levels of hot and spicy.) The baked beans were some of the best either of us had ever tasted, having been cooked with bacon almost to the point of exploding. Accompanying our meals were pints of Wild Mountain’s beer – Amber Ale for Greg and Cherry Wheat for me.
After lunch, we walked around the small downtown, ending our afternoon getaway at the used bookstore that also serves as coffeehouse and ice cream shop.
Unfortunately, the parking lot for Boulder Falls was full as we made our way back down to our reality of suburbia, so we didn’t get to relax some more in front of a waterfall.

The sound of mountain streams and falls as well as ocean waves are so calming and relaxing.
Wow – that place looks AMAZING! Sounds like you two had a great time.
Totally mellow – I’d love to visit a place like that.
MD> definitely.
Scott> so close, yet so far away.
